I have seen on Metroblogging Melbourne that French films are famous there. The only thing is that none of these films were a big success as i can remember ;-)
There is also an annual french film festival in Los Angeles called “City of Lights - City of Angels” that happens to be closing today for another year. The 2006 audience choice award went to “Nos Jours Heureux” (Those Happy Days). While films screened at festivals do not always enjoy commercial success, they are nevertheless appreciated by the audiences who would not otherwise have the opportunity to see them. Festivals also provide a means of promoting the french culture around the world through its film industry.
