Having spent exactly one week in Paris, I managed to snag an apartment before getting a cell phone account. Apparently, this is unheard of here. But after trying to see a reasonably priced studio in the 10th and saying Fuck It after seeing that more than FIFTY people were waiting in line to see it, I understand. I guess I’m just lucky.

But seriously people. Something needs to be done about this rental shortage. They can’t be charging 490 EU for a shitty little dump room with the toilet in the hallway. Revolt! Even in NY people wouldn’t be lined up for a place like that. And then, three months caution? Are you serious? Ya think I’m made of money?

Well, I’m glad my housing search didn’t turn into some kind of Snakes on a Plane version of the Parisian real estate market. While I tried to work with pap.fr for a while I would always wistfully glance at Paris craigslist hoping that some reasonable roommate situation would shine through all the overpriced “Charming Montmartre studio 70 EURO/night” ads.

And the craigslist pulled through. I’m moving in with some lovely people on Sunday. Oh, and did I mention we have a gardien? And a courtyard with flowers? And I’m super close to my work? Yup, thanks. *Pats own back.*

Maybe you’d like to come over for dinner sometime…
